What is a car's 'fascia' (facia)?
I have always thought that the fascia of a car was the dashboard and instrument panel, but lately I've read and heard it used to describe the front grille of a car and the area around and between the headlights; the car's 'face' if you like.
So has the meaning changed, or is this another case of transatlantic misunderstanding like 'hood vs trunk' and 'fender vs bumper'?
By the way. Yes I know it should be 'hood vs bonnet' and 'fender vs wing'. It was a (very) feeble attempt at humour.
'hood vs trunk' should be hood vs bonnet and 'fender vs bumper' should be fender vs wing!
parts are named allsorts depending on what car and where its made, i worked in parts for years and could never figure out what things were until i looked at them.
