Auto insurance is one of the biggest expenses students face, right up there with tuition and books. In fact, students can pay anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 a year for auto insurance, depending on such factors as their ...
* Age
* Gender
* Driving record
* Garage location
Fortunately, students can get cheap auto insurance. How? Read on to find out!
Be a Girl
Okay, you don't have much control over this, but it's a fact that insurance costs less for women under age 25 than for men under age 25. Men are statistically more prone to having accidents and therefore their insurance rates are higher.
Live Clean and Drive Safely
Do not drink or take drugs and then drive. A DWI or DUI will drive your insurance premium up dramatically, and keep your rate high for years to come. Also, keep your driving record clean by obeying speed limits and other driving laws.
Keep Up Your Grades
Most insurance companies offer discounts to students who maintain a B average or better. You'll need to show your insurance agent proof of your grades to get this discount.
Buy a Sensible Car
Your dream car may be a Mustang, a Firebird, or a Camaro, but you'll pay a lot more for your insurance with these types of "muscle" cars. Opt for a car that's less expensive to repair and is less tempting for thieves. Also avoid cars with high horsepower, as insurance rates are higher on these cars.
Walk or Bicycle at School
If you can manage without a car while you're at college, leave your car at home. You can adjust your policy so you'll still be covered when you're at home for vacations.
Increase Your Deductible
By increasing your deductible - the amount you pay toward a claim before your insurance company pays - you can save up to 40% on your car insurance premium.
Shop Around
Make sure you're getting the best price on car insurance by doing some comparison shopping. Go to an insurance comparison website and enter your vehicle, driver, and insurance information. You'll then receive auto insurance quotes from multiple A-rated companies and you can choose the one with the cheapest rate.
The best comparison sites offer tips on how to save money on your insurance, and even have an insurance expert on call so you can get answers to your insurance questions online or by phone. (See link below.)

Chevrolet Muscle Cars – the Hunger for More Power
Americans love power. Chevrolet muscle cars,as evident from the name, indicate America's fascination for automotive power. The term muscle car illustrates a two-door rear wheel drive medium sized car with a big and powerful V8 engine. Muscle cars were built for street use and road racing. Although sports cars too have powerful engine and are meant for racing purpose but they differ from muscle cars in terms of price and size.Muscle cars are lower priced but larger in size than sports cars.
The trend for more powerful performance oriented car began in the 60s. The period between 1960 and 1972 played a key role in the history of American automobile as the age of transition.Especially the year 1966 when General Motors gave birth to its first powerful performance car Chevrolet Camaro that swept the market as soon as it came into existence.
Chevy muscle cars appealed towards larger group of people as they offered affordable yet powerful performance on the road that was more than enough to boost the booming automobile culture in the United States. But with time the size of Chevy muscle cars increased in keeping with its engine power and luxury features as well.

The second generation Chevy Camaro was introduced in 1970 when it grew wider as well as heavier with the addition of newmechanical components.
The third generation Chevy Camaro saw the daylight in 1982.Although it shared the same platform but was equipped with an array of newer technologies such as throttle body fuel injection,turbo-hydramatic four-speed automatic transmissions, five-speed manual transmissions and 15 to16 inch wheels. In 1993 Chevy Camaro emerged in its new avatar with far more stylish look.Camaro Coupe was accompanied by Convertible this time with a choice of V6 or V8 engines of different capacities.With the 4th generation lasting up to 2002 the 35 years of continuous production of Chevy muscle car came to an end.

After 1996,the 6th generation General Motors stopped production of Impala.

Firebird and Camaro parts?
I have a 95 Pontiac Firebird, and I was thinking of buying a wrecked 87 Camaro. Is there anyway I could switched the engine or transmission from the Camaro into my firebird, and how would I go about doing that? Thanks.
Both cars are V-6 3.4 L with automatic transmissions. I'm more worried about the year difference. I don't know if the engines change as much as the exterior.
I was going to say the biggest difference is the 87 is third generation while the 95 is fourth gen. Alot of diff. in the whole car but as far as the engines go I think they are the same. You can call a junkyard (one of the bigger ones) in your area and they can tell you if that motor and trans will work. They have a computer program that can cross ref. stuff like that. I do it here when I have somthing unusual come in the shop like that.
