Microheat, Inc., a leading supplier to the automotive industry, has won this year's World Traffic Safety Achievement Award for the supplier category. Microheat is the maker of the popular and the patented hot fluid windshield de-icing system.
Gary Pilibosian, the president and the CEO of Microheat, received the award at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The World Traffic Safety Symposium, founded in 1990, was formed to respond the increasing concern of traffic injuries and fatalities on roadways. The Symposium is dedicated to deliver to automakers, public and private organizations, and the media vital information and to discuss innovative ways to make automobile travel safer.
Annually, the group gathers research and data from worldwide to create a presentation of the most remarkable and innovative advancements in traffic safety. In the said symposium, industry experts, manufacturers, and journalists are invited to grace the showcase of the most advanced, life-saving safety features that have been made available in vehicles.
"We are honored to receive this prestigious award recognizing innovations in safety," said Gary Pilibosian, the Microheat president and CEO. "HotShot® ensures optimal visibility for drivers in all seasons, weather and driving conditions. Microheat is committed to driving safety and we look forward to continuing to provide drivers with better visibility and safer driving conditions."
According to the Insurance Information Institute, poor visibility is a major cause of traffic accidents and fatalities in the United States. It is a contributing factor in approximately 1,500 deaths in 2005. This is the reason why the introduction of HotShot® in the industry is deemed a big milestone.
HotShot®, introduced commercially in 2002, is a key breakthrough in windshield clearing technology, solving a problem that has baffled the auto industry for 75 years - removing ice, snow, filth and grime from windshields without the usual manual scraping.
HotShot® is currently integrated to a variety of General Motors Corp.'s product line including the Avalanche, Buick Lucerne, Chevrolet Silverado, Cadillac DTS and Escalade, GMC Sierra, Suburban Tahoe, and the Yukon. In addition, several other trusted OEMs that include brakes, suspensions, radiators, and engines throughout the world are in various stages of testing the compatibility of the product.
The HotShot® features a patented cycling technology that cleverly heats fluid to a precise temperature and sprays the fluid at precise time intervals to swiftly and ably eliminate snow, bugs, ice, filth and road grime from windshields. The all-season, all-weather system of the product can be activated at vehicle start-up and maintains hot fluid for use by drivers while driving.

Edmunds Reveals Most Wanted Vehicle Awardees; Editors, Readers Differ in View
Edmunds.com announced recently the winners of the sixth annual Edmunds.com Consumers' Most Wanted vehicle awards. Apparently, however, Edmund’s editors and readers differ greatly in what they think is important and desirable in terms of a new car or truck. Edmund’s readers agreed on only 8 out of 32 of Most Wanted Vehicles with the Editors.
By a considerable margin, the 2007 GMC Acadia won the flagship award, which is Edmunds.com Consumers’ Most Significant Vehicle of 2007. The next highest finisher was the 2007 Saturn Aura, and the 2007 Honda Fit took the third place. However, Toyota Tundra was the readers’ choice for the flagship award.
On the other hand, among manufacturers, Chevrolet led the pack, winning five awards, while Cadillac and Honda tied for second place, each winning four awards in this year's survey.
The 2007 cars which bagged the awards were the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Cobalt, Honda Civic and Mazda 3 (tie), Saturn Aura, Acura TSX, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac STS, BMW 5 Series, Lexus LS 460, Honda Civic, Ford Mustang, Infiniti G35, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911, Kia Rio5, Mazda 3, Audi A3, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series (tie), BMW 5 Series, Toyota RAV4, GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook, Chevrolet Suburban/ GMC Yukon XL/Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade/Cadillac Escalade ESV, Saturn Sky, Honda S2000, BMW Z4, Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac XLR, Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Silverado/2007 GMC Sierra, 2007 Honda Odyssey, and the 2007 Bugatti Veyron 16.4.
The GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV, and Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra were considered “twin vehicles” that were listed jointly in the ballot. As described in detail in the Edmunds.com article entitled “Twinned Vehicles”, these vehicles are built on the same chassis and share most of their under-hood and interior components.
Aside from the Toyota Tundra that won in two different categories, the other vehicles which were agreed by the Edmunds readers were the Honda Civic (in two different categories), BMW 5 Series, Porsche 911, Kia Rio5, Mazda 3, Audi A4, and the Toyota Tacoma.
Edmunds.com Editor-in-Chief Karl Brauer said these awards provide a good idea of what consumers are looking for in their next vehicle, and this year, consumers voiced the opinion that the domestic markets are developing some very compelling cars and trucks.
Meanwhile, details on all award winners are listed in at the website of Edmunds.com.
Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive consumer information was launched in 1995 as the first automotive information web site. Edmunds Inc. publishes four web sites that empower, engage and educate automotive consumers, enthusiasts and insiders.
Volkswagen, maker of quality VW strut insert, was not chosen either by the editors or the readers. Automobile analysts say this is because the German car maker has still need to boost its image in the US market so that Americans will eventually like their concepts and buy its cars.

what would cause the air conditioner to blow hot air in our 1997 GMC suburban?
My husband has a 1997 GMC Suburban and the AC had been blowing hot air, so we bought the $20 recharge kit at walmart, but it didn't help. What else could cause this and how much do you all think it will cost to fix? I would call the shop but it is saturday night - just wanted to get some ideas. thanks
AC systems are so complicated there is no way any one candiagnoses your problemaccuratelyy on yahoo answers un less you were a qualified ac technician your self and could run a bunch of tests amd post the results on here. Your problem could be as serious as a blown compressor or as simple as a cracked vacuum line. Sorry but you will have to wait till Monday and go to a qualified ac mechanic
