Here are some more information for Jdm Mid:

The HKS hi power exhaust is available as an aftermarket hi powered exhaust for many makes and models including but not limited to: Acura, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Ford, GM, Dodge, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Subaru. The HKS hi power exhaust is modeled after some of the GT racing in Japan for turbo charging and aspirated uses. HKS hi power exhausts incorporated the race inspired offset mufflers and pipes into street use that now offers more flow and higher PRM because the design is less restrictive. This is made by taking out bends that are not needed, and giving a straighter path for the exhaust.
When used as a supercharger, the HKS hi power exhaust lets more exhaust velocity through for better mid range boosts and more high RPM power. Those vehicles that are naturally aspirated will see better exhaust flow when the engine's tuning levels go up. There are some silent HKS hi power exhaust versions that have a silencer inside the muffler. All of the HKS hi power exhaust systems are made out of stainless steel tips and mufflers, and some of these tips range in size from 96mm to 120 mm in diameter depending on make and model of the vehicle. Piping diameters range from 55mm-95mm depending on the make and model of vehicle application. There are special editions of carbon titanium HKS hi power exhausts that are only available for specific models of vehicle. These special versions are made of a carbon fibered wrap shell on the muffler, a titanium tip and piping that is made of polished stainless steel.
Some of these models of HKS hi power exhaust systems are available from the catalytic converter back, and these are only available for certain makes and models of vehicle. These high powered exhaust systems use a race inspired angled mounted stainless steel piping system that allows for the greatest flow from cat to pipe, allowing for more horsepower as well. These are considered true JDM exhaust systems, which are known to work best for turbocharged vehicles, but also works exceptionally well on naturally aspirated vehicles as well. The low resistance offered by the design of the muffler means that you will get more power than most other types of exhaust.
The smallest Acura model RSX Base, and will only fit the 2-03 2.0 liter engines. The piping diameter is 60 mm, the tip is 115 mm in diameter and includes a silencer as well as being made of coated stainless steel. The HKS hi powered exhaust system for a Honda Civic offers bolt on cat back exhaust made of stainless steel like all other models. The inner silencer is included, and is made in Japan with a pipe size of 55mm and a tip size of 96mm. The most popular of all HKS hi power exhaust systems sold is the Mitsubishi Eclipse model. This system offers a tip size of 96mm and 65mm pipe size, and is also made of the same materials including the stainless steel finish.
HKS Hi-Power Exhaust systems incorporate a race inspired angled mounted stainless steel muffler and piping design for greater flow and higher-RPM power gains. Depending on the application, piping size ranges from 55 to 95mm. For more details visit http://www.erzperformance.com.
H7 HID BULBS
The word HID stands for "High Intensity Discharge". These HID bulbs get their name from the intense light produced by the electrical discharge of Xenon gases with a salt which product light. What Subaru engine should I get for my 1997 Legacy?
I will be getting a '97 legacy wagon with a 2.2 liter engine and a shot auto transmission. Instead of replacing just the transmission I am thinking of replacing both the engine and transmission at the same time since the engine has 245k and leaks oil.
Which engine is a good bang for the buck? I am willing to get a JDM turbo WRX engine from the mid to late '90s, but if there is something cheaper or easier that still offers more power, that is available in the US, I could go that way.
Thanks!
Thank you both.
OBS99, yes I would like to get more power. This will be lifted and used off-road, so something with more low-end torque would be best. I'll look into those delta cams. I'll stay away from the turbo swap from now. Easier is what I want. Thanks
In theory, you can put any Subaru engine you want in there. The issue is, how simple and straightforward do you want the swap to be?
Your EJ22 currently in the car has single port exhaust heads. If you swap in a 2.5 engine, they all have dual port heads, meaning you will also have to swap out your exhaust headers. Avoid the dual cam 2.5 of the mid-late 90s. A percentage of them are notorious for having head gasket issues. Honestly, the 2.2 is one of the most bulletproof engines Subaru made. For durability, I'd go with another EJ22.
A turbo engine is not designed to run w/o turbo. Don't go that route. If you want to run turbo, you also need to get all the turbo accessories from the engine bay, as well as swap out your ECM for that of the turbo car's. The only way I would do a turbo swap is if you bought an entire front clip of a turbo car.
Before doing a swap, look at your throttle and that of the new engine. Different model years have different sensor setups. You want to make sure you are plug and play. If you buy a pre 1999 2.2, you can always put your stock intake manifold on the replacement engine. An intake manifold swap is pretty simple. The heads on the 2.2 engines changed for 1999, when Subaru introduced the phase II EJ22. There is no way your intake manifold will fit on a dual cam 2.5. I do not know for sure about the single cam 2.5, but I think it won't them either.
If you are after power, here is what I would do. Buy a low mileage or rebuilt 2.5 bottom end. Have your 2.2 heads rebuilt or buy a used pair with low miles and put those on the 2.5 block. Buy a pair of Delta cams for the heads. (They will tell you the best grind for your application.) Now you will have a Subaru with more bottom end oomph and can still have everything plug in and operate with no hassle. You will have to run premium gas to handle the higher compression ratio, though.
Doing a full turbo swap is not a simple process. You will spend more than you think and it will be more of a headache than you anticipate.
Watkins Glen II: Michael Shank Racing preview
Watkins Glen, NY (4 August 2010)-With one car ending the race in flames, and the second entry falling short of a run to the podium despite the speed the Crown Royal XR machine showed all weekend, Michael Shank Racing's last visit to Watkins Glen in June for the Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal was a tremendous setback.
