Is this false? because assume Y=2 there is no way for X to mulitply Y and make it to 1 with out going ration.

However, in one case when Y=1 then it is true.

So is statment true or false?
I meant to say "rationial" when i said "ration".

Real numbers can be integers, rational, or irrational. None is ruled out.

However, what the statement says is that there is some number X which no matter what non-zero number Y you pick, X times Y will equal 1. In other words, some single X works for all the different Y's. That is false. For example what X would work for both Y=2 and Y=3? This X would have to equal both 1/2 and 1/3. But those are not equal, so no X exists which works for both. So, in fact the statement is false, but not for the reason you gave.
