I had a friend call me recently because he brought his 2007 Nissan in for a 90k auto service (90,000 mile service). Most of these services are the biggest scams I have ever been apart of (yeah sorry). As a flat rate mechanic I absolutely loved them (back in the day). My friend paid through the nose for crap, he knew it after wards, and at least declined the BS up-sells.
Thirty thousand mile services are a glorified oil change with a tire rotation. I used to get paid 3 or 4 hours to do a 30k service (Done in 1 hr tops). Oh, you sure inspect a lot of stuff, stuff that does not need inspecting. The original 30k's, before we had 100,000 mile fluids and spark plugs, you actually had to do some work.
Here's the deal! You go in for an oil change every 3000 miles, and a oil change and tire rotation every 6000 miles or so. If you need repair work, like brakes or front end work, they will notice. They crawl all over your car looking for an up-sell, you don't have to pay them for these routine inspections, that's all these services are, routine inspections. Most shops give you free 16 point inspections for free with an oil change.
I recommend getting your oil changed and tire rotations by "certified mechanics", not jiffy this, or sooner that. whether in a dealership or private auto repair facility they have "guys", they give this easy work to. Don't let sub par mechanics work on your car. The labor rate does not change depending on who's working on your car, so ask for a certified mechanic (your already paying for him).

A few days ago, while using it to browse and answer e-mails, I suddenly smelled something burning, and when I looked, it was my Apple ADP-60AD AC Adapter’s cable sparking and plastic white cover melting. Its basically similar to what happened to this guy. I don't want to buy a new one, because I didn't bought it for along time, I searched some information from internet, and repair the Apple AC Adapter myself.
Using either a chisel or a Flathead screwdriver and a pair of pliers for a hammer, I carefully, but firmly tap the handle of the chisel (sorry, at this stage I didn’t take pictures because I wasn’t thinking of posting at the time) on the seams of the Apple ADP-60AD AC Adapter on all sides. I kept doing it until I heard the plastic case crack on each side. The reason for this is because the case has no screws or clips that holds it in place. Its practically glued together.
I cut off the affected area to about an inch just to be sure. I used a pair of scissors only because I was lazy getting the needle-nose pliers from the tool box. I stripped off the white plastic Apple ADP-60AD AC Adapter jacket to about another half-inch on both sides, carefully separating the ground and main gray wire. This is important; Make sure that the ground and inner wire do not touch, or else you’ll short your Apple AC Adapter when you plug it in and you’ll definitely going to have to buy a new one when that happens.
Also, the ground must be connected to its partner on the other end or your Apple ADP-60AD AC Adapter will not work . Now all I have to do is to twist the two pairs together, the main gray onein place, carefully solder them using a soldering rod, and cover them up with electrical tape.
As extra precaution, I wrapped the entire thing with more electrical tape as to make sure the wires are securely insulated. At this point I tested what I did to make sure its working before I close it up. See the yellow light on my Apple ADP-60AD AC Adapter below. I inserted the whole area that I taped up back inside the casing and clipped the new white cable on Apple AC Adapter into the circular part where the cable runs through, and placed back the cover.

What should I look for when I want to buy a classic car?
Im going to look at a 1967 Ford Mustang this week and possibly buy it. I need some help in what to look for and if it is worth the price. He is selling it for about $4500. There is little rust on the front floor panel, but he has already bought new replacements for it. No rust on body and there was a little rust in the gas tank which he had replaced.
