A debate rages... can you safely use a service manual for an outboard that is not an OEM manual? There are plenty of manuals about. Of course, Mercury outboards and Yamaha outboards are different and need brand and model specific instructions. Copyright laws prevent publishers reproducing any part of OEM manuals, so the question is, is it possible to give accurate repair instructions, when rewriting the OEM manual to an extent where it is not plagiarised? If it were just an issue of copyright law, that would be manageable, but servicing Mercury outboards incorrectly could be costly.
So is that extra money spent on the accurate OEM manual really a saving of hundreds of pounds? It can mean the difference between an engine that is fixed correctly, according to OEM specifications or one that's irreparably damaged.
Identifying Mercury outboard motors
Timing issues, incorrect adjustments, screws not set properly, these could all be terminal. Also, identifying the engine correctly can be challenging, particularly if your outboard was built before March 2001. If built after March 2001, the identification is significantly easier. After that time, a consumer-readable date was added to the information on the engine, making it less difficult to identify the latest versions of Mercury outboard engines. Do not just depend on the logo on the engine cover!
March 2001 is a relevant date from a service manual point of view because Mercury Marine themselves no longer provide shop manuals on ouboards produced before March 2001, which was when OMC/Mercury was acquired by Bombardier Corporation.
Mercury outboards are a large market for small and mid-size recreational boats. The choice of timing adjustment issues, as a typical example of where the DIY enthusiast can get it badly wrong, is also apt. Timing settings on outboards control power and acceleration and are an important part of the boat's health. Adjusting the timing is easy enough, as long as you have the right tools. Get it wrong though, and you can create all sorts of problems for yourself.

Getting Quality OEM Wheels and Wheel Covers for your vehicle
The OEM wheels and wheel covers are manufactured by all major brand names to help you select the right wheels for your vehicle depending on its model and make. These OEM wheels and wheel covers are manufactured of the highest standard since they have a certain government-formulated level of liability, which unfortunately the aftermarket products cannot provide to the buyers. The OEM wheels and wheel covers provide a warranty period that is a guarantee that the product is of the best possible quality, thoroughly tested, and will last a long time. This is the precise reason as to why the OEM wheels and wheel covers are costlier than the aftermarket products such as wheels and wheel covers.
These OEM wheels and wheel covers can only be manufactured and sold by licensed component manufacturers. These components are of very high quality and they have fewer discounts or no discounts attached to them. These OEM wheels and wheel covers are manufactured based on the industry standards and are the actual components for that model and make of the vehicle. These OEM components are manufactured to be used in particular vehicles, which are more in demand. Therefore, trying to get OEM wheels or wheel covers for all the type of vehicles might not be a feasible option. The OEM wheels are sometimes manufactured with a high price tag to provide the best quality in the market to boost performance of the vehicle.
While trying to look for wheels of the OEM type it is important to select the wheels based on its size, the style, material used, and durability. Each of these plays a major part in providing the type of wheel that is most suitable for your vehicle. However, once you purchase the OEM component from local dealers or online stores it is important to provide proper care and maintenance for these components. While going on the road especially on rough terrains it is extremely important to inspect the condition of the wheel during the start and end of the journey. This will minimize any chances of sudden breakdown or flat tyre related issues while on the road.
Over a period, the OEM wheels tend to show a little bit of wear and tear but that does not mean that the quality of the wheel has gone down. In such a scenario vehicle owners, should opt for wheel repair job on their wheels. This would provide a further guarantee for their wheels. This would take care of the polishing, painting, and powder coating related jobs under the so called wheel refinishing option. Once the refinishing job is completed on the wheels, it will help them look new and attractive while you use them. The overall quality will remain the same as for the OEM components and the outer surface of the wheel will get the required touch to make them look attractive.
In case your OEM wheels have suffered some sort of damage or distortions then the damaged area can be welded, to make them look like the original components without compromising the quality. Certain other necessary checks are also performed on the wheels to be 100% sure of their capacity to move smoothly on the roads. These include checks of balance, radial run out, and lateral run out. All these tests ensure that the welded wheel is perfectly straight and ready to hit the road without any worries.

What are some things I should consider when installing Windows Vista OEM version?
I plan on buying the OEM version of windows vista 32bit and was wondering what I have to consider when installing the OEM version? For example what are the limitations or holdbacks to the OEM version? Later on down the road if I add a new graphics card will the OEM version work correctly? Im just not very familiar with OEM. Any input on what is all involved with OEM install on a new system would be great and this is going to be for a brand new build.
OEM works fine for me, I've always bought the OEM versions except for windoz 95, cos what use is the box anyway? The retail version comes in a box and costs more, and has a longer warrenty. Also, there is something about if you swap the motherboad you'd need to do a fresh install.
