Fuji Sangyo Company was eventually formed into twelve different operations. Subaru outback air conditioning doesnt work?
I own a 2000 Subaru outback, and this spring I turned on my air conditioner for the first hot day since last summer. What did I find, no cold air. The fan works and the heater still works. And the ac buttons light comes on, but no cold air. Radiator is full and air filter is pretty clean. What could be wrong?
If you were using the defrost setting on your a/c heat control through the winter then the compressor for the a/c still got use, which is good for it.
That said, there are some seals in the a/c hoses that do, over time, deteriorate and leak a bit.
Worst case scenario is the compressor is leaking.
Best case scenario it is one of the four a/c relays or a hose leak. Or the dedicated a/c belt needs to be checked for tightness and integrity.
Either way it is time to take it to an a/c shop for evaluation and repair.
Sorry it is not possible to pinpoint THE problem, but those are the usual suspects. There are other possible causes but they are much less likely to be the cause at this point.
