Which toyota matrix model year is the best and why?
I'm shopping for a toyota matrix but can't decide on the year I want. I'm leaning towards the 2003 body and am sure I can find one with low miles...but then I like the 2006 model too. Suggestions? Which do you recommend best and why?
to me the 2003 model is the best so far! as far as looks go, it is curvier and sexier than the later edgy model years...and not to mention that if you consider an XRS model, 2003 was the most powerful of the bunch! i have a white 2003 matrix XRS with a 6spd....bought it with 42K miles, now has 111K miles...never been anywhere near a mechanic, all it has needed was the regular oil changes, which i do at home! i've driven it on many rode trips and it was amazing, averaging 37 MPG!!!
So i vote 2003......XR or XRS is up to you.
deference between the two is performance....so how much performance do you want? XR is 140 HP and the XRS is 184 in 03 and 164 in later models....and you must also keep in mind that the recommended fuel for an XRS is premium where the XR uses regular....you can use regular in the XRS you'll just get a bit less power...i've always used premium though.
